A staycation is a popular choice for many visitors to Da Nang, known as the “livable city.” With mountains, rivers, beautiful beaches, numerous resorts, and a rich culinary scene, 48 hours in Da Nang can be a perfect escape, as suggested by local Nguyen Duy and experienced by a journalist.

Day 1

Morning

Arrive in Da Nang on an early flight. From the airport, head to the city center for breakfast. Resorts often offer airport shuttles directly to your accommodation, but if you prefer to explore the streets, there are other transportation options available.

A recommended dish is fish cake noodle soup (bun cha ca) at spots like 109 Nguyen Chi Thanh Street, Ba Lu on Hung Vuong Street, or Ba Phien on Le Hong Phong Street. If fish cake noodle soup isn’t to your taste, you can opt for banh mi, Mi Quang, or banh canh.

Fish cake noodle soup is a refreshing dish made with sea fish. The main ingredients are usually fried fish cakes, mackerel, or tuna slices. Fresh fish is cleaned, minced, and mixed with spices like salt, sugar, and pepper, then shaped into patties. The fish cakes can be steamed or fried. The broth is light and sweet, with vegetables like tomatoes and pineapples, served with fresh herbs.

Take a break and enjoy coffee at beautifully decorated cafes along Bach Dang Street by the Han River. For those who love traditional coffee, Long Coffee, with over 40 years of history on Le Loi Street, is a must-visit.

Check out the 3D Museum (Art in Paradise Danang) on Tran Nhan Tong Street, a new destination especially popular with young people and families. The museum covers 4,000 square meters and is divided into 9 themed areas, featuring 130 artworks by nearly 20 top Korean artists.

The museum is open daily from 9 AM to 9 PM. Entrance fees range from 100,000 to 140,000 VND for Vietnamese visitors and 100,000 to 200,000 VND for foreigners.

Noon

Before heading to your hotel, stop for lunch at one of Da Nang's famous pork rice paper rolls (bánh tráng cuốn thịt heo) restaurants. The dish is known for its pork slices with skin on both ends, dipped in a special fish sauce, each restaurant's own recipe.

On the way from the 3D Museum to your hotel, you can visit Tran Restaurant on Pham Van Dong Street for convenience. Tran Restaurant also has other locations around the city, or you can visit Mau or Ba Huong restaurants.

Check in at the Danang Marriott Resort & Spa, Non Nuoc Beach Villas, located on Non Nuoc Beach, about 10 km from downtown Da Nang and 18 km from Hoi An Ancient Town. This resort features 122 private villas amidst nature, with living rooms, private pools, and full high-end services.

Afternoon and Evening

Relax, stroll around the resort's grounds, enjoy a beach or pool swim, and take advantage of the on-site services. The resort's Quan Spa, an oasis overlooking a lake, offers 8 treatment rooms, whirlpools, and both dry and steam saunas. It’s open from 9 AM to 10 PM.

Dine at the Triton Restaurant within the resort or enjoy a seafood barbecue on the beach. After dinner, you can unwind at the resort's bar.

Day 2

Morning

Have breakfast at the resort and relax within the grounds. The breakfast menu mostly features famous Vietnamese dishes such as pho, banh mi, and Hue beef noodle soup, along with typical European and Asian breakfasts, special meals for children, and daily seasonal fruits.

You can sit and enjoy the ocean view, breathe in the fresh sea air, and choose from the self-serve beverage station and specialty drinks, including salt coffee.

Visit the Marble Mountains, just a 5-minute drive from the resort. The Marble Mountains consist of five peaks named after the five elements: Kim (Metal), Moc (Wood), Thuy (Water), Hoa (Fire), and Tho (Earth), named by King Minh Mang over 200 years ago. The entrance fee is 40,000 VND.

According to Duy, the Marble Mountains have long been a famous destination, but many tourists either skip it or only visit once without returning. “In recent years, the Marble Mountains have seen many changes,” he said.

At the Marble Mountains, Huyen Khong Cave, Am Phu Cave, and the Non Nuoc stone carving village are must-see attractions. Note that you'll need to climb over 100 steps, or you can take a transparent elevator for 15,000 VND one way.

Noon

After lunch, if you choose to stay at the resort, you can continue to enjoy the available services.

If you check out, consider heading to Hoi An to continue your vacation. It takes about 30 minutes to reach Hoi An. You should choose a riverside room for convenient access to the ancient town and a peaceful atmosphere, without being too far from the center.

For dining and other entertainment options, refer to “48 Hours in Hoi An.”

Alternative Options

In the city center, you can visit the World Wonders Park, watch the Dragon Bridge spit fire on weekend nights, or visit the Love Bridge, all conveniently located. History enthusiasts might enjoy the Da Nang Museum or the Cham Sculpture Museum.

For destinations outside the center, you can visit Son Tra Peninsula, Linh Ung Pagoda, Ban Co Peak, Bai But, and Ghenh Bang, all near each other. Further away, you can explore Hai Van Pass, Suoi Mo, or the Nam O fish sauce village.
