Wuloru.info – The UK’s Observer newspaper praised Da Nang’s tourism, highlighting its street food, surfing beaches, and historical sites.
The Observer’s editor recommended that travelers seeking a destination in Vietnam to enjoy local street food, surfing, and visiting UNESCO-recognized historical sites should consider stopping by Da Nang.
Vietnam’s top tourist city is recognized as modern with a fast-growing tourism sector. International visitors to Da Nang in the first nine months of the year reached 1.6 million, more than 5.8 times the same period in 2022 and 67% of the same period in 2019, according to data from the Da Nang Department of Tourism.
There are currently many direct flights from popular tourist spots in Asia, such as Taipei, Seoul, or Tokyo, to Da Nang. International tourists can “easily fly directly to the central coastal city of Vietnam” without having to transit through Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi.
From Da Nang, visitors can also easily visit nearby famous tourist attractions such as My Son Sanctuary, Hoi An, and the ancient capital of Hue. These sites are all less than two hours away by car from Da Nang. The coastal city itself offers a variety of accommodation, dining, sightseeing, and tourism activities to explore.
The Observer suggested three high-end accommodations for visitors to consider when staying in the coastal city: Intercontinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, Naman Retreat, and Fusion Suites Da Nang.
The first “must-visit” destination in Da Nang is My Khe Beach. The British newspaper noted that many hotels in the city have private beaches, but visitors should still visit My Khe Beach. This spot is described as a bustling public white sand beach right in the city center, where tourists can participate in activities such as jet skiing, windsurfing, and surfing. Visitors should ask their hotel to book beach activities to ensure reliable service providers.
Another recommended attraction is Linh Ung Pagoda on Son Tra Peninsula, about 10 km from the city center. The highlight here is the 67-meter-tall statue of the Lady Buddha. The British newspaper advised tourists visiting Son Tra Peninsula not to feed the monkeys if encountered.
Marble Mountains is also an impressive tourist spot in Da Nang, suitable for visitors who enjoy hiking and scenic mountain views. The weather from September to November is cool, with less harsh sunlight, making it convenient to visit this location. Tourists are advised to “dress modestly, respect local culture,” and can light incense for good luck.
Another famous tourist destination in Da Nang mentioned is Ba Na Hills, located at an altitude of over 1,500 meters above sea level. From here, visitors can visit the Golden Bridge, “a favorite check-in spot on Instagram.”
The Observer suggested visitors stop by APEC Park, home to the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture, which preserves ancient Cham cultural artifacts.
A trip to Da Nang wouldn’t be complete without exploring the local cuisine. The British newspaper introduced local dining spots ranging from casual eateries to luxurious restaurants in the coastal city. Modern-style restaurants include Nén Restaurant and Madame Lan, serving creatively reimagined Vietnamese dishes.
For Mi Quang, the recommended spots are Phu Chiem – Anh restaurant and Nu Do Kitchen. A famous Banh Xeo spot in Da Nang mentioned is Ba Dưong.
“Visitors can observe how locals make Bánh Xèo on a pan. The dish comes with pork, shrimp, or a combination of both,” wrote the Observer’s editor.
