Wuloru.info – This pristine spot remains untouched by tourism, preserving the raw beauty of nature.
Mui Nghe is located on the eastern side of the Son Tra Peninsula, Da Nang. Although only about 10 km from the city center, it is not widely known among tourists due to the challenging route. Some people discover this spot through word of mouth among adventurers, while others rely on locals familiar with the area to guide them.
The name “Mui Nghe” comes from the shape of the rock, which looks like a “Nghe,” with its head facing the mountain and its body towards the sea. If you travel by boat, you can clearly see the “Nghê” gradually emerging from the sea.
To reach Mui Nghe, you’ll spend over an hour on a boat. Since there’s no pier, sandy shore, or shallow water, the boat must anchor far from the rocky shore. You’ll need to switch to a SUP or a coracle to navigate the strong waves. Once ashore, it takes another 10-15 minutes of trekking over rough rocks to reach Mui Nghe’s natural pool. Although the path is short, it’s tricky to navigate, requiring caution to avoid slipping or tripping.
However, once you arrive at this “paradise in the sea,” all your fatigue will vanish. A crystal-clear blue pool, transparent enough to see the bottom, awaits you, surrounded by mountains and cliffs. The sea waves can’t reach this area directly, only creating gentle ripples.
You can swim to your heart’s content in the clear waters. Though small, the pool is home to various fish and some coral. A little dive will let you see, or even touch, the fish up close. After swimming, you can relax on the rocky shore, enjoy some beer and snacks, and chill with friends. Many people even bring fishing rods to try their luck in the sea, adding to the fun.
The best part of visiting Mui Nghe is the sense of peace, undisturbed by the usual tourist crowds. It’s rare to find such a beautiful place with so few people. The moment you immerse yourself in the cool water, surrounded by nature, feels incredibly precious.
Due to the challenging route, it’s best not to stay too long at the pool. You should aim to return before 4 PM. If you’re interested in watching the sunrise, you can climb back up to the higher ground to pitch a tent and stay overnight. However, you must be well-prepared with all necessary supplies, as there are no services available here.
Mui Nghe is stunning and unique but not suitable for those seeking a relaxing vacation. Before deciding to visit, make sure you’re physically fit and have the skills for hiking, rock climbing, and navigating tricky terrain. Never underestimate the journey, and it’s best to have a local guide to avoid getting lost or facing unexpected challenges.
