Wuloru.info – The ancient banyan tree stands 22 meters tall with a main trunk and additional trunk circumference totaling 85 meters. This tree once served as an important base during Vietnam's resistance wars against foreign invaders.

Son Tra Peninsula is an ideal destination for nature lovers in Da Nang, located about 10 km northeast of the city center. Visitors can reach Son Tra Peninsula by following the coastal road from Vo Nguyen Giap to Hoang Sa. To fully explore this area, you need ample time as there are many interesting stops along the way, one of which is the Son Tra Banyan Tree, the first Vietnamese Heritage Tree recognized in Da Nang.

The tree is situated on the Bai Bac – Ghenh Da – Mui Nghe tourist route. From the Bai Bac junction, follow the directions to Son Tra Banyan Tree for another 3.5 km. The first impression upon arriving at the ancient tree is the vast, lush green space that cools the entire path. Visiting during midday, the banyan tree acts like a natural air conditioner, providing refreshing cool air.

The Son Tra Banyan Tree, also known as the High Mountain Banyan, belongs to the mulberry family and is over 800 years old. Standing 22 meters tall with a trunk circumference, including the additional trunks, reaching 85 meters, the tree's branches and trunks are intertwined, creating a strong and stable structure that has endured for centuries.

During the French and American wars, Son Tra Peninsula became a strategic base for the local military forces of Quang Nam – Da Nang. The location of the Son Tra Banyan Tree was used by guerrilla forces as a shelter and meeting point for exchanging information.

The area around the ancient banyan tree is peaceful, offering visitors a place to rest, enjoy the cool breeze from the sea, and relax while listening to the rustling of the leaves and forest trees. There is a small drink stand nearby, but no dining services are available. Visitors should bring snacks, meals for a full day of fun, and remember to keep the area clean. Avoid feeding the monkeys.

The roads on Son Tra Peninsula are paved and smooth, but the terrain is quite steep. If traveling by motorbike, make sure your engine is powerful enough, fill up your gas tank before departure, and consider using a manual bike. For those traveling by car, the journey is easier. However, some sections of the road on the peninsula are narrow one-way routes, so be sure to follow the traffic signs carefully.

Aside from the ancient banyan tree, Son Tra offers many other impressive attractions such as Ban Co Peak, Ghenh Bang, Mui Nghe, Ho Xanh, Linh Ung Pagoda – Bai But, Son Tra Lighthouse, Black Rock Beach, and Yellow Sand Beach.
